It's been two wonderful years of women in design, and it's been an absolute dream. Wondering what we've been up to? We've got so much to tell you!
In late 2019, on a very random October 11th, I was lounging on my sofa thinking about life, work, the usual. That's when I started WID India, on a courageous whim filled with anxious excitement and hopes for the future. Shortly after, Ashwini joined me and we became Women in Design, India. We poured our hearts and souls into it, working late nights, on festivals and weekends, battling our own fears and anxieties - but it never felt like work to us. It was always exciting.
And now, it's October 11th, 2021. It's been two whole years! They've been filled with inspiring conversations with talented creatives across the globe. I still remember our very first feature, PaperBaag Co.'s Priya and Sumedha — we shook off our fears, and amidst the ongoing pandemic took a leap of faith to reach out and conduct our interviews. We've come a long way since then, we've interviewed and featured 16+ powerful women, had 50+ articles published and hosted countless events, and met thousands of creative women globally, as well as nationally — all while being a small but mighty 2 person team. It's been an absolute blessing to have a front-row seat watching this space and community grow into what it is today.
This letter is filled with gratitude, for you reading this. Thank you for making us who we are. A huge thank you to our global and national community of freelancers, leaders, aspirants, thinkers & doers who go out of their way to support us in everything we do. We built a family of our own amidst the pandemic, and it's been a pleasure watching us grow, support, and lift each other up! We truly couldn't have done it without you!
As 2021 comes to an end, we're working harder to ensure we deliver nothing but the best to you. We'll stay in touch, continue our mission to spread love, positivity and empower more creatives! 🧡
